Frequently Asked Questions
What is the most popular kitchen cabinet?
Cabinets in neutral hues such as white, gray, black or even navy are immensely popular in most kitchen settings especially modern setups. These help accentuate the colour palette in use without clashing with the rest of the pieces.
Darker colours such as black and navy can also provide a nice contrast if you want to make use of beige or white walls. If you have a kitchen with lots of natural light this can be a lovely idea. To make these cabinets stand out we will provide a polyurethane finish that will add a sheen.
If you’re into more of a wood and stain look we can also provide you with beautiful cabinets that will give your kitchen an earthy and welcoming feel. Walnut is one of our most sought after timber finishes. With its deep brown hues you can add depth to an old style kitchen or contrast it with white walls for a modern twist.
Do you install kitchen cabinets before tile flooring?
That’s a hard yes. When you decide to renovate your kitchen think 20 years into the future. In this span of time you may want to change around the layout of the kitchen, moving around (or even replacing) your cabinets, benchtops and appliances. In this case it would be better if you completed your flooring before installing your kitchen cabinets, that way you will not have any unsightly empty spaces to be filled if you ever get around to redesigning your kitchen.
There are exceptions of course. For instance if you don’t need a complete remodel for your kitchen, if you only need to replace the flooring and a few other pieces but want to leave the majority of the kitchen intact you can install tiling around your kitchen cabinets. This is also a more budget friendly option for those who don’t want to commit to a total makeover.
What do I need to know before remodelling a kitchen?
First things first, you still need to eat while the remodel is ongoing so before the work actually begins try to find a temporary kitchen setup. This will minimize the hassle and expense that comes with everyday take away meals.
When planning the kitchen layout pay attention to its existing fixtures, lighting and your ideal kitchen flow for preparing meals. From here you can work backwards and map out where your appliances, cabinets, benchtops, and other essential elements can be positioned.
We will pay close attention to the details from the flooring material to the placement of your cabinets. For instance do you have load bearing wall sections? Knowing this will allow us to plan accordingly and prevent costly mistakes when designing your kitchen.
Lastly a kitchen renovation can be tricky because of the electricity, water and gas. We will always make sure to work with skilled and licensed professionals to ensure utmost safety and functionality.
